McLachlan is facing an entire season on the sidelines
Morecambe midfielder Fraser McLachlan is likely to miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury.
The 26-year-old twisted his knee against Hereford on the opening day of the season and a subsequent scan has revealed ligament damage.
Shrimps manager Sammy McIlroy told BBC Radio Lancashire: "The boy seems to be out again for the season, which is just so unlucky.
"People don't realise the job Fraser McLachlan does for us."
He added: "He is one of those players who can break up attacks and then give the ball back to a team-mate. We haven't got that sort of player within the club now."
McLachlan has been plagued by long-term injuries since joining the Shrimps in the summer of 2006.
The former Stockport man broke his leg in August 2007 which ruled him out of the club's first season as a Football League club.
