Cook has already spent time on loan at Eastbourne this season

Mansfield Town have signed full-back Steve Cook on a three-month loan deal from League One leaders Brighton.

The 19-year-old has just returned from a loan spell at Eastbourne, which ended with his first senior goal in their weekend defeat at home to Luton.

Cook has never started a game for Brighton, but has made five appearances from the bench.

The most recent of them came in the Seagulls' victory over Manchester City in the League Cup in September 2008.

The right-back should make his Stags debut against Crawley a week on Saturday.
