Mansfield Town manager David Holdsworth says he thinks new captain Jon D'Laryea has a bright future at Field Mill.
The 23-year-old joined Stags from Manchester City in 2006.
Holdsworth told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's not a finished product by a long way but he's a little general in there and he'll become a colonel.
"I want him to take that armband and enjoy it but understand the fundamentals of having an armband - it's imperative to lead by example."
Stags are now 17th in the Blue Square Premier after a 1-0 win over Crawley at home on Saturday.
