Money has used the transfer market frequently this season
Luton Town boss Richard Money says he is still on the hunt for a new defender after missing out on York City centre-half David McGurk.
McGurk, 28, had a transfer request rejected by his club last month.
Money told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I don't think it's any secret we'd like to bring another defender to the club.
"Everyone knows that we made a good offer for McGurk that York turned down. They asked for what we considered to be a ridiculous fee."
Money's defensive options have been limited by injuries to Fred Murray, Shane Blackett and Ed Asafu-Adjaye.
And on-loan Northampton centre-half Craig Hinton is due to return to his parent club on 4 January.
A special mention should go to Alex Lacey who's had two outstanding performances at centre-half

"We're still on the look out for a versatile defender," Money added.
"Craig has done well in both games and has given us some very valuable cover.
"We're looking for another defender in January but that's about it."
The Hatters manager could turn to 17-year-old Alex Lacey, who was one of three Luton players under the age of 18 in Tuesday's FA Trophy win over Welling United.
"A special mention should go to Alex Lacey who's had two outstanding performances at centre-half," he said.
"It's not an easy position to come and play against men, but he's handled himself with real assurance."
Money also confirmed that striker Amari Morgan-Smith could be back in action in time for the Boxing Day trip to Rushden & Diamonds.
The 21-year-old is looking at the possibility of wearing a face shield to protect the fractured cheekbone he suffered in last week's FA Cup replay against Charlton.
