Luton Town defender Fred Murray could be out of action for a month after being told he needs a hernia operation.
The 28-year-old has played 21 games for the Hatters this season.
"He'll have an operation before the end of the week, you're looking at three to four weeks out," boss Richard Money told BBC Three Counties Radio.
"But Jake Howells has performed extremely well at left-back, Ed Asafu-Adjaye can play there, Daniel Gleeson is quite comfortable there too."
Money added: "Claude Gnapka or Keith Keane can go to right-back, Alex Lawless can play there, so we've got plenty of cover."
