Luton Town swoop for Charlie Henry and Craig Hinton

Luton Town have made the double loan signing of Northampton defender Craig Hinton and Newport County midfielder Charlie Henry.

Henry, 23, signs on a loan deal which will become permanent in January after joining the Welsh side from Havant & Waterlooville in the summer of 2009.

Hinton, 33, also joins on loan but only until 4 January.

He will act as cover for Shane Blackett who is likely to be out for six weeks with a groin injury.

Henry, who started his career in the Hatters youth set-up, was integral to Newport's promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier last season.

And he has gone on to feature 19 times this term, scoring twice, including a strike against Luton in August.

The winger has not played in the FA Cup this season and is therefore available for Saturday's second round tie with Charlton.

"I think he'll be a real bright person in the dressing room and on the pitch," Luton boss Richard Money told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"He played extremely well against us here and scored a goal so he owes us a couple of points.

"He meets the profile in terms of permanent signings. He's young, hungry to prove himself, desperate for a chance and he ticks a lot of the boxes."

Hinton has made just one first-team appearance this term after missing the start of the season through injury.

"This is a good move for Craig, his attitude has always been exemplary," said Cobblers boss Ian Sampson.

"It's a good opportunity for Craig to play some football. He is a model professional and I hope this move works out for all parties."

The former Bristol Rovers man played the full 90 minutes in Northampton's 3-1 League Cup defeat by Ipswich in October, his first and only appearance since the end of the last campaign.

Luton are going well at the moment and I'm sure Craig will do well for them

Northampton boss Ian sampson

"He wants to be playing more games which is perfectly understandable," added Sampson.

"He missed the first two months of the season but he worked really hard to get back fit and when he came in for the Ipswich game he did a good job.

"Luton are going well at the moment and I'm sure Craig will do well for them."

Hinton has made a total of 47 appearances for the Cobblers since joining them from Rovers in the summer of 2007.

He started his career at Birmingham City, before going on to make 240 appearances for Kidderminster Harriers.

Money has also revealed he will let young attacker Dan Walker go out on loan.
