FA Trophy no concern to Luton Town boss Richard Money

Luton Town boss Richard Money says he does not care if his side get knocked out of the FA Trophy.

Money made nine changes to his side for Sunday's first round draw with Welling and intends to use the competition to give his youth players experience.

"I don't care if we go through to the second round. I really don't," he told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"People need to understand what the afternoon was about, which was developing future footballers."

Among those given a chance was 17-year-old centre-half Alex Lacey who made his Hatters debut alongside Craig Hinton - 16-years his senior.

"If we go through - fine. If Alex Lacey proves himself to be a superstar, then that's of far more value to us.," said Money.

There was also a first start for 20-year-old midfielder Godfrey Poku as Money, who is without five first-team players through injury, looks to stick with a similar side for Tuesday's replay.

"I was really pleased with a lot of what I saw and I think the replay is perfect for us," Money added.

"It's perfect because we'll take the same group of players and three or four more of our youth team.

"I'm not going to talk about who we left out and who we didn't play.

"I played that team because we want to see who can develop quickly and who can come through and be a part of our first team squad."
