Lincoln boss Chris Sutton issues rallying call to fans

Sutton's side lost to Cheltenham and Morecambe over the Easter weekend

Lincoln boss Chris Sutton has urged supporters to unite behind the team in the final stages of the season.

The Imps are nine points clear of safety in League Two, but four of their remaining six matches are against teams chasing promotion and the play-offs.

Sutton told BBC Lincolnshire: "I sense a little bit of edginess from the crowd but they've got to get behind us.

"We all want the same thing. If the supporters get on the players' backs that's not going to do us any favours."

Lincoln had gone six games unbeaten prior to Easter defeats by Cheltenham and Morecambe.

They face promotion hopefuls Bournemouth on Saturday and Notts County on Tuesday, and also have games against Aldershot and Bury to come.

Sutton added: "Common sense says to get behind the team.

"We can feel sorry for ourselves, but we're a young side and if the players don't have the courage to take two touches, to get hold of the ball and to pass nicely then that's counter-productive."
