Sutton insists he was right to complain following Aaron Brown's dismissal

Lincoln City boss Chris Sutton has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after being sent to the stand against Cheltenham.

Sutton was given his marching orders amid chaotic scenes in Saturday's draw, following the dismissal of Aaron Brown.

Substitutes Ian Pearce and Cheltenham's Barry Richardson were also red-carded in the ensuing fracas.

Sutton has told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that he is yet to decide whether to accept or contest the charge.

"With the benefit of hindsight maybe we would have acted differently," he said. "But it's an emotional game.

"We didn't think what happened was right and we reacted.

"If we feel things are wrong then we should stand up for what we believe in but, on the other hand, there is a limit as well and we should accept that."

After the match Sutton told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that he felt Cheltenham's players and staff had tried to influence referee Graham Salisbury's decision following Brown's challenge on Theo Lewis.

He said: "I don't know why I got sent to the stands as I didn't say anything which warranted it.

"I just asked why he'd sent him off and that was that."
