Sutton must wait for FA decision

Chris Sutton
Sutton insists he was right to complain

Lincoln boss Chris Sutton must wait to see if he will face punishment from the Football Association after being sent to the stands against Cheltenham.

During an ill-tempered clash Imps defender Aaron Brown, assistant boss Ian Pearce and Cheltenham's Barry Richardson all received red cards.

After remonstrating with the referee Sutton was then sent to the stands.

"I wouldn't expect to hear anything until Wednesday," an FA spokesman told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"The playing members who were red carded should hear their decisions by the end of the week."

The Imps manager was incensed by what he believed were players trying to influence the referee over Aaron Brown's tackle on Theo Lewis - for which he was sent from the field.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "The issue I have is why their keeper ran 70 yards up the pitch to get him sent off and why their staff seemed to have a big influence because I don't think the referee would have sent him off at all.

"It's a tough thing for the referee but I think in situations like that players do try to influence and that's what happened."

"I don't know why I got sent to the stands," he added.
