Collins is manager Simon Grayson's fifth signing of the summer 2010
Preston defender Neill Collins has signed a three-year deal with Leeds United for an undisclosed fee.
Collins, who spent nine games on loan at Elland Road last season, is believed to have turned down a move to Leeds' Championship rivals Coventry City.
The 26-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds: "It was close because I had one other really strong offer to consider.
"But when I spoke to Leeds and having been here last year it was an easy decision in the end."
The former, Hartlepool, Sunderland and Wolves player added: "This is the place I wanted to come to. It's a great motivation for me and I'm delighted to be back.
"I left on such a high and obviously I was so keen to come back here.
"It's a step up closer to where Leeds want to be back in the Championship trying to get back into the Premier League. I want to be a part of that."
The Scotsman will join up with the rest of the United squad for training before heading to Slovakia for a two-game pre-season tour.
