Garvan wins Irish Under-21 award

Garvan has scored six goals for Ipswich this season

Ipswich Town midfielder Owen Garvan has been named Under-21 Player of the Year at the annual Eircom/FAI International Soccer Awards.

The 21-year-old has scored three times in seven appearances for the Republic of Ireland's Under-21s this season.

He won the accolade ahead of Sheffield United midfielder Stephen Quinn and defender Darren O'Dea of Celtic.

Garvan is currently with the squad preparing for Tuesday's game against Germany in Cork.
