Ipswich Town have agreed an undisclosed fee with Southampton for midfielder Rudi Skacel.

The 28-year-old Czech international visited Suffok this week before flying home to Prague to consider the move.

Town boss Jim Magilton told the club website: "We would like him at this club and have made him a very good offer and now it is down to him."

Skacel, who can also play left-back, joined Southampton in July 2006 for �1.6m from Scottish club Hearts.

It is thought that Skacel's international ambitions could have a bearing on his decision and Magilton knows this could be a potential stumbling block.

"I know that playing for the Czech national side is very important to Rudi," added Magilton.

"Whether he thinks his chances will be affected by playing in the Championship is something I'm sure he will talk to people about before making a decision."
