Hull City talk to Steve Cotterill about manager's job
Cotterill is a target to succeed Phil Brown as the Tigers' new manager
Hull City have spoken to the former Notts County, Cheltenham and Burnley boss Steve Cotterill about the vacant manager's position at the KC Stadium.
However, key off-field developments at Portsmouth may determine Cotterill's immediate future.
Sources suggest Cotterill has agreed in principle to become their new manager.
And BBC Radio Humberside understands Cotterill will only be interviewed for the Hull job if Pompey fail to stave off liquidation in the High Court.
There has been no official comment from City or Cotterill.
The Tigers are looking for a new boss following Phil Brown's departure and much depends on events at Portsmouth over the next 48 hours.
The south coast club are hoping to confirm Cotterill as their new boss before the weekend and sources suggest he would be reluctant to go back on his word.
Significantly, however, a deal is yet to be concluded for his services and depends on Pompey coming out of administration at a creditors' meeting on Thursday.
With Paul Hart another name in the frame at the KC Stadium, the Tigers will monitor events closely.
