Histon boss Beck makes decision on trialist signings

Histon boss John Beck has said he has decided which of the club's current trialists he would like to keep.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I've made my recommendations to the board and I'd like to think by the end of the week they'll make an announcement."

Ex-Barnet striker Luke Medley and ex-MK Dons defender Ben Clarke have been two of the bigger names to try out.

However the club's plans have been dealt a blow with defender Adam Tann opting to sign for Chelmsford City.

He had been offered a player assistant-manager role, but the Stutes could not meet his wage demands.

"We're very sad that Adam is going, but the board of directors tried their best to keep him and we wish him well," Beck said.

"It's very difficult because we need a couple of old heads to help our youngsters out on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Lee Smith's proposed move to Dagenham is yet to be completed, but could be finalised within the next few days.

Histon take on an African Select XI at the Glass World on Wednesday before a trip to Biggleswade Town next week.
