Blue Square Bet South outfit Chelmsford City have signed goalkeeper James Pullen and defender Adam Tann.
Pullen, 28, who was born in Chelmsford, has played for Ipswich, Blackpool and Peterborough in the past and spent last season at AFC Wimbledon.
Centre-back Tann, 28, joins from Histon and has football league experience with Cambridge United, Notts County and Leyton Orient.
Both should play in Wednesday's friendly against a Leyton Orient XI.
Tann was offered a player-coach deal to stay at the Glass World Stadium, but opted to head to Essex instead.
Stutes boss John Beck told the club's website: "I'm disappointed of course that Adam decided his future lay elsewhere as I had hoped he would join my coaching staff as well as captain the team.
"The financial constraints here have been well documented but we pulled out all the stops and our offer would have made Adam the highest paid member of the squad and to be fair, he would have deserved every penny."
