Histon tempt defender Adam Tann with coaching role
Tann joined Histon on a free transfer in the summer on 2009
Histon manager John Beck has offered defender Adam Tann a coaching role if he signs on for next season.
Tann, 28, was offered a new deal in May but wanted to wait until the managerial situation at the Glass World Stadium was finalised.
Beck told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He wants to join us and I'd like to make him my player-coach.
"But finances will effect whether he does join us, as we will have the smallest budget in the league."
Histon have lost several senior players since the end of the season, including defenders Matt Langston and Gareth Gwillim, and will rely heavily on players from their youth system next season.
Beck said: "Adam will be an integral part of the playing squad and an integral part of the staff.
"I'm hoping he will sign but if doesn't I'll have to look elsewhere for a player-coach."
Despite the exodus of players Beck is finally optimistic he will have a strong squad for the start of the Blue Square Bet Premier season.
"We've got 30 trialists coming in and it's starting to look a little better," he said.
"It's only in the last couple of days that we're starting to think we can see the light at the end of the tunnel."
