Histon defender Callum Stewart has said he is hoping to benefit from an emphasis on youth under John Beck.
The Stutes are set to rely on young talent next season as a result on their ongoing financial problems.
Stewart, 19, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I want to push on and become a dominant figure at the back and nail down a first team place.
"I've had a chat with John and he's told me what I need to work on if I'm going to be a regular in the side."
Stewart is a product of the Histon academy and broke into the starting XI as they battled against relegation last season.
He worked under Beck while the former Cambridge United boss was assistant to Steve Fallon and said he is pleased to see him back at the Glass World.
"I worked with John two years ago when I signed my first professional contract and I know what he's about and he knows a lot about me," he said.
Stewart spent time on trial at Fulham last season and said they are still keeping tabs on his progress.
He knows he has plenty of room for improvement and will be aiming to build on his experiences from last season.
"I learnt a lot last season from the likes of Adam Tann, but I now I really want to push on and build on my 10 appearances," he said.

Meanwhile, former captain Neil Andrews has revealed that he has turned down the chance to return to the club as a player-coach.
Andrews had his contract terminated by mutual consent last season and has since spent time with Bury Town.
