Farrell was sent off twice for the Us last season

Cambridge United midfielder Ben Farrell has joined Blue Square Premier rivals Histon on loan for one month with a view to a permanent deal.

The 23-year-old will be part of the squad that travels to Altrincham on Tuesday night.

Farrell was signed by Cambridge from Bedford in January 2008.

Stutes boss Steve Fallon said: "We know we need to strengthen our midfield. A player of Ben's calibre joining us will certainly boost our squad."

Farrell was on the verge of a loan move to the Glass World Stadium in August last year before it was cancelled.

Meanwhile, Histon have terminated the contract of defender Nathan Bowden-Haase by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old centre-back signed on a one-year deal from Hemel Hempsted back in June.
