John Collins is considering other options in the transfer market |
Hibernian manager John Collins has warned Thierry Gartheussi not to wait too long before giving an answer to the Edinburgh club's contract offer. The Cameroonian defender impressed on trial but has returned to his club Sete, who were willing to accept a nominal fee for the 25-year-old.
"It's been dragging on, but we have other irons in the fire and we will move on," said Collins.
"There is no point hanging about. You can only spend so much time on it."
Collins told the Edinburgh Evening News that Marisu Tomislav had not done enough to secure a contract, despite the Slovenian striker scoring the third goal in Saturday's 5-0 win over Stirling Albion.
But Gatheussi did impress Collins sufficiently while on trial before returning to France to consider his options.
"It could happen or it couldn't," said Collins.
"It's one we thought we were going to get done. But, as the days drift by, it's looking less likely.
"I don't like to talk about deadlines, but the longer it goes on the less likely it is to happen."
