McCluskey scored for Hibs in the CIS Cup last August |
St Johnstone have signed teenager Jamie McCluskey, following the midfielder's release from Hibernian. The 19-year-old became the youngest player in SPL history when he made his debut at the age of only 16 years and 79 days in January 2004.
"Jamie is an out and out gifted footballer and I want to give him the platform to go and play," Saints boss Owen Coyle told the club website.
"Jamie can play through the middle, out wide or behind the front two."
The diminutive McCluskey made 28 appearances during his four seasons at Hibernian, scoring once, but did not feature at first team level after the turn of this year.
"There is not much of him in terms of height and build but a lack of physique is not necessarily a hindrance," added Coyle.
"He has plenty of ability although there will undoubtedly be aspects of his game we can work on.
"Just as important as his ability is his desire and hunger to achieve something and that is what I want at this club - players who want to push themselves to achieve something."
