Bulls open pre-season at Pegasus

Trewick has not ruled out bringing in loan players to bolster his squad

Hereford United manager John Trewick plans to look at some trialists during the club's friendly at Hellenic League club Pegasus Juniors.

Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester that he will be viewing Thursday evening's game as a training match.

"I will probably play 22 players and give them 45 minutes each as that would be sensible at this stage.

"But to get on to a big pitch and play what is different opposition is terrific for us," he said.

The Bulls have been back in pre-season for just over a week and Trewick says he has been encouraged by the early signs.

"I think it is going very well as the players are showing a lot of enthusiasm and are putting a lot of effort into training," he said.

"I'm delighted with the standards they have shown in the little exercises that we have done.

"I'm still looking for another three, maybe four players and I am working hard on that," he added.

United are taking a look at a number of trialists at the moment but John Trewick says he will not be rushed into making any decisions.

He says those who are training with them do have something of an advantage, so it is up to them to make the most of the opportunity.

"It is up to one or two of the trialists who are in at the moment to show their worth," he said.

"I have also got a few irons in the fire with possible loan situations.

"It is always possible if the right player becomes available that we could possibly spend a bit of money on the right player, but any of those eventualities are open at the moment."
