Turner rues costly early errors

Turner was happy with Pools' performance but not the result

Hartlepool boss Chris Turner has called on his side to cut out the early errors that cost his side three points in Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Peterborough.

Pools conceded within the first 15 minutes and then again early on in the second half after Andy Monkhouse's 38th-minute equaliser.

Turner told BBC Tees: "We sat off them in the first 10 minutes and allowed George Boyd to get in the game.

"We tightened that up but they scored their goals in the opening periods."

Turner's side have little time to dwell on the loss as they travel to Stockport County in League One on Tuesday.

It is the first of two difficult away jaunts for the Teessiders and Turner admitted it is difficult for his side to keep trekking around the country, particularly in midweek.

"I can't believe we keep getting these two games home, two games away, there's a lot of travelling involved," he said.

"Stockport have a good home record and Cheltenham came off the back of a long losing spell when they drew at Swindon in midweek, they're two tough games.

"If the players go with self belief and play how we want them to play and the way they have been playing then we can go there and pick up the points."
