Leon McSweeney and James Vincent got the goals as Stockport secured a deserved win over Hartlepool to keep their play-off push firmly on track.
There were few chances in a largely dismal first half, but McSweeney broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when he rifled home from Michael Rose's cross.
Teenager James Vincent then lashed in a superb shot from outside the box for his first League goal to make it 2-0.
Michael Mackay slotted in to reduce the deficit but Hartlepool fell short.
