Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has admitted he may struggle to keep hold of in-form striker Simeon Jackson.
Jackson, 22, has scored four goals in two games, following up his opening day hat-trick with a goal in their 2-1 Carling Cup win over Plymouth.
"I looked at that list of scouts, there were some big teams here [watching him]," Stimson told BBC Radio Kent.
"No disrespect to the Plymouth players but I think they were only here watching one player."
He added: "I won't be pleased if he gets that much attention and something happens.
"His whole game was spot on, and I'm sure a few of those scouts will be going back with a glowing report.
"But hopefully they' be thinking 'maybe not yet, let's have another look at Christmas'."
Tottenham Hotspur's first-team coach Joe Jordan was among those at Priestfield on Tuesday.
And Stimson said: "He's come for a reason hasn't he?
"I don't know what, but he hasn't just driven down to Gillingham to make the numbers up and spend a night out. He's come to watch something.
"But fingers crossed he [Jackson] doesn't leave us because he's a big part of what we want to do.
"I'm sure every chairman will say every player has got a price and we'll have to deal with whatever happens."
