Falkirk have agreed a deal with Huddersfield Town for Scotland Under-21 midfielder Scott Arfield.
The fee, initially in the region of £400,000, will rise to over £600,000 after the player competes in a certain number of matches.
Arfield is close to agreeing personal terms with the Yorkshire club and an announcement is expected on Monday.
Southampton had expressed an interest in January, while Hibernian and Hearts have also been linked with Arfield.
Falkirk are now resigned to losing the 21-year-old, who signed a five-year contract in 2008, after being relegated from the Scottish Premier League.
Huddersfield manager Lee Clark confirmed last week that the Scotland Under-21 has impressed him but declined to comment on any fees involved.
Arfield was also a target for Hamilton Accies and Hibs last summer, but Falkirk rejected bids from both clubs.
