Arfield pens new Bairns contract

Arfield has been in impressive form for Falkirk this season

Falkirk midfielder Scott Arfield has signed a new five-year contract with the SPL club.

The 19-year-old, who has represented Scotland at U21 level, has made 28 appearances for Falkirk this season.

"It's great to have everything all sorted out with the contract. Playing in the first team is great," he told the club's website.

Bairns manager John Hughes said Arfield had been rewarded for his excellent performances and workrate.

Arfield, who has become a first-team regular after making his debut in August, said he was enjoying his football under Hughes.

The Falkirk manager said Arfield had performed well for the first-team this season.

"All he wants to do is be the best he possibly can and with his work rate and enthusiasm anything is possible," Hughes added.
