Russell Anderson signs permanent two-year Derby deal
Anderson was plagued by injuries at Sunderland
Derby County manager Nigel Clough has made his first signing for next season with the permanent capture of defender Russell Anderson.
The Scotland international, 31, joined the Rams in January after his deal with Sunderland was cancelled.
And although he did not break into the Derby team until March, he has played the last eight games and has impressed enough to earn a two-year contract.
"Russell has proved his quality at this level," Clough told the club website.
"He will have a big part to play in our squad for the new season and beyond.
"This is the perfect start to what is going to be an important summer of recruitment.
"Russell is the exact type of character we are looking for; a strong personality who is determined and committed.
"We have had to act quickly to beat off competition from other Championship sides but were always confident of securing his future."
