Derby County boss Nigel Clough is still hoping to re-sign Everton striker James Vaughan on loan in January.
The 21-year-old had his initial Rams loan deal cut short because of a knee injury he picked up not long after moving to Pride Park in September.
But he has had a successful operation and is now back in training.
Clough told the Evening Telegraph: "We hope to get him down at some point for a training session with us, so he doesn't come in cold in January."
The Rams have also signed Leicester City strikers Paul Dickov and DJ Campbell on loan but their deals expire in January.
