Campbell has failed to impress Foxes boss Nigel Pearson
Derby County manager Nigel Clough has completed the loan signing of Leicester City striker DJ Campbell.
The Rams beat off competition from Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday to sign the 28-year-old forward.
Clough said: "I'm pleased we've got the deal done. He has raw pace and that is something we've been missing up top.
"It certainly gives us another option and more competition alongside Rob Hulse, Paul Dickov and Chris Porter, who is getting closer to full fitness."
Campbell, who started his Football League career with Brentford before securing big-money moves to Birmingham and then Leicester, had fallen out of favour at the Walkers Stadium.
He spent the latter part of last season on loan at Blackpool, where he scored nine goals and helped them secure Championship safety.
And although Cambell returned to Leicester this season, he has struggled to earn a regular spot and has made just three substitute appearances for the high-flying Foxes.
However Clough was thrilled with the signing, adding: "This is a deal we've worked hard on and it is always nice when your hard work pays off."
