Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has expressed surprise after being linked with a move for Derby County and Scotland winger Kris Commons.
The Rams said they have received no offers for the 25-year-old.
And Mowbray said: "I saw that running the other day and I'm not sure where that has come from. He's not a player we have discussed."
Commons, who joined Derby from Nottingham Forest last year, is valued at £3.5m.
Commons was born in Mansfield, but is a Scottish international having qualified through his grandparents. He scored seven goals for Derby last season.
Mowbray stressed Celtic had not approached Derby about the player.
"It's the power of TV. The whole world believes something if they see it running across their screens," he said.
"If I was a supporter, I would probably have believed it also."
