Todd has worked hard to rebuild the Darlington squad this summer
Darlington manager Colin Todd remains optimistic about his side's future despite starting the campaign with two defeats in league and cup.
The Quakers lost at Aldershot on the opening day but were much improved at home to Leeds on Monday and Todd senses his side are improving with each game.
"It can't be a good start because we lost two games," he told BBC Tees.
"But there's signs that we've been very positive, Leeds was never going to be easy but we were strong."
Meanwhile, Todd is happy with the experience that lies within his squad following a summer of rebuilding.
Prior to Todd's arrival, Darlington were left with a threadbare squad that contained just a handful of senior professionals, but the former Middlesbrough, Bradford and Derby boss has since strengthened his side with a selection of experienced recruits.
"We've got Steve Foster, Paul Arnison, Chris Lumsdon, and Lee Thorpe, so we've got a blend," he said.
"The two Sunderland boys (Jamie Chandler and David Dowson) have given us something, they've given us energy and ability.
