Polish goalkeeper Bartek Folger close to Crewe move
Bartek Folger will provide competition for Chelsea loanee Rhys Taylor
Crewe are close to signing goalkeeper Bartek Folger on a two-month contract.
The Polish stopper, formerly of Polonia Warsaw, has been on trial with the League Two club during pre-season.
Steve Phillips is expected to be out of action until September with a shoulder problem, leaving Chelsea loanee Rhys Taylor as the club's only fit keeper.
"Bartek's done particularly well but there's been some issues with signing him on a short-term deal," coach Neil Baker told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I think the clubs and the secretaries are ironing those out and providing they do he'll join us for the next two months."
Folger started for Crewe in the 5-0 friendly victory over Nantwich Town and was also named as an unused substitute for the 1-0 win over Premier League newcomers Blackpool.
Taylor, 20, is likely to start Crewe's opening game of the season against Hereford on 7 August after signing a two-month loan deal at the Alexandra Stadium.
