Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor has joined League Two side Crewe Alexandra on a two-month loan deal.

Taylor was recommended by former Alex first-team coach Steve Holland, who is now working with the Premier League champions as reserve team coach.

The 20-year-old had a loan spell with Championship side Queen's Park Rangers last season, but did not play a first-team game at Loftus Road.

Taylor will compete with Steve Phillips for the number one position at Crewe.

Phillips, who signed a new two-year contract on 1 July, is not expected to return to action until September while he recovers from shoulder surgery.

Taylor follows fellow new arrivals Antoni Sarcevic, Lee Bell and David Artell into the Alexandra Stadium.
