Adam Legzdins turns down offer from Crewe Alexandra

Goalkeeper Adam Legzdins looks set to leave Crewe Alexandra after rejecting the offer of a new 12-month contract.

The 23-year-old made just eight appearances for the Alex after joining from Birmingham in June 2008.

Manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "He probably would have started the season in goal so I was surprised that he didn't take up the offer.

"Credit to him, he wants to play in a first team somewhere, but I don't think he'll go for more than we offered him."

He had to wait 14 months before making his debut for Crewe, after his first season at the Alexandra Stadium was interrupted by a succession of injuries.

Legzdins played the final three matches of the campaign in place of the injured Steve Phillips, who underwent a shoulder operation in April.

He also played eight times in a loan spell at non-league Weymouth in March 2009.

Crewe will be owed compensation by any club wishing to sign Legzdins because he is under 24.
