Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi steps up keeper hunt
Crewe goalkeeper Steve Phillips is recovering from a shoulder operation
Crewe may sign a goalkeeper on loan from an unnamed Premier League club, says boss Dario Gradi.
Steve Phillips is the club's only senior stopper, following Adam Legzdins' decision to reject an offer of a 12-month contract from the Alex.
"A goalkeeper has been suggested to me," Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke. "I don't know the keeper, but I know the person that's recommended him."
"That would be sufficient, so it looks as though we might fill that gap."
Crewe used five goalkeepers - Phillips, Legzdins, Steve Collis, David Button and Adam Bogdan in League Two last season.
Phillips, who was signed from Bristol Rovers in November, had established himself as the club's number one goalkeeper by the end of the campaign, but missed the last three matches with a shoulder injury.
