Crewe to release striker Danny Gardner at end of season
Gardner has made two substitute appearances for Crewe Alexandra
Striker Danny Gardner will not been offered a new contract by Crewe Alexandra at the end of the season.
Gardner, who signed from non-league Flixton in February, has made just two appearances for the League Two club.
"I've reluctantly let him go because I still feel that he could become a decent player somewhere," manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I can't bring in another 'maybe'. If I'm bringing anyone else in, I need to feel he's going to make a challenge."
Gardner is one of two non-league strikers to sign for Crewe since the turn of the year.
Jordan Connerton was immediately loaned back to Lancaster following his move in March and will join-up with the rest of the Alex squad when they return for pre-season training.
