Davis joined Crewe as assistant manager earlier this summer
Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Steve Davis believes having a togetherness in the squad can play a big part in the team bouncing back from relegation.
The Alex begin life in League Two at home to Dagenham on Saturday having wrapped up their pre-season with an encouraging 4-1 win against Birmingham.
Davis told BBC Radio Stoke: "Having a good team spirit is a vital ingredient in us becoming a successful team.
"The players are all buying into what we want and that's great."
Crewe are taking a look at Leicester City midfielder Aman Verma in training this week with a view to a loan deal being agreed.
The youngster has been impressive in an attacking midfield role for the reserves but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Foxes.
Verma joined up with the Crewe squad on Wednesday.
The Alex have signed Histon pair of Patrick Ada and Mat Mitchel-King on permanent deals this summer, while England Under-20 goalkeeper David Button has arrived on a six-month loan from Spurs.
Manager Gudjon Thordarson said: "We have other trialists here and I am still looking at one or two before deciding on what our best move is going to be.
"If something comes up that we can do and afford before the deadline then I would make it happen, but I won't go out and buy someone or bring someone in on loan for the sake of it. That is no good to anyone."
