Thordarson has been in charge at Crewe since January.
Crewe Alexandra manager Gudjon Thordarson has praised the work that his players have put in during their pre-season campaign.
Crewe are looking to bounce back to League One at the first attempt having suffered relegation last season.
"The team is beginning to take shape now and the formation has worked well," Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke.
"The players are stepping up and working well and they just have to keep that going now."
After releasing eleven players in the summer, Thordarson has been keen to add to his squad.
He has already signed goalkeeper David Button on a six-month loan from Tottenham, along with Histon duo Patrick Ada and Mat Mitchel-King on permanent deals.
Several trialists have also been at the club, including Faroe Islanders Jonas Tor Naes and Tordur Thomsen.
However the pair didn't do enough to secure a contract and were sent home.
They suffered the same fate as Adam Nowland and Craig Rocastle, who failed to impress in a recent 1-1 draw at Nantwich.
