Crewe Alexandra have named Billy Jones as their new captain with Anthony Elding becoming the vice captain.
Jones, 25, took the armband in the first pre-season friendly game at Newcastle Town.
"It will be an honour and a privilege to lead the lads out next season, and I intend to be a success at it," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
Left-back Jones joined the Alex from Exeter in May 2007 and has made 60 league appearances, scoring six goals.
Manager Gudjon Thordarson said on his appointments: "They are both players who have worked hard and committed themselves.

"They are positive in their approach and they can help the young players and set a good example on the training ground.
"I have always had a good relationship with my captains. I always seek advice wherever it comes from. That is just a healthy situation."
Crewe have arranged to take their first team squad away from July 13 for a three day pre-season break to Carden Park near Chester.
