Jones will begin his third season with Crewe Alexandra in August
Billy Jones has said relegated Crewe Alexandra will have to adapt quickly to a more physical style in League Two.
"The top six will get the ball down and try and play football, and the rest will play percentage football," the defender, 25, told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Last season we were playing against the likes of Leeds, who would keep for as long they wanted. The lads have got to adapt to it quickly."
The Alex were relegated to the bottom division of the Football League in May.
Jones has found it difficult to escape from football during the close season, despite getting married.
"I'm on my honeymoon at the moment, but I'm still looking at the sports news every day to see what's been going on," said Jones.
"My wife isn't too happy about it, but as a footballer, it's in your blood. It's always important to look at what changes are being made and to keep an eye on what's happening at your own club."
Seven goals from Jones, who signed for Crewe from Exeter in 2007, were unable to prevent the Alex being relegated to the fourth tier of English football for the first time since 1994.
