Lisbie signed for Ipswich from Colchester in July 2008

Ipswich striker Kevin Lisbie has said that he wants to make his loan move at Colchester permanent, despite being told to return to Portman Road.

Blues manager Roy Keane said on Monday that the 31-year-old will go back to the Championship club in January.

But Lisbie told BBC Essex: "I'd love to sign [for Colchester]. Whether it can be done is another thing.

"I want to be here. If I leave here and go back there, I've got to start all over again."

Lisbie has scored 10 goals in 21 appearances since joining the U's in August.

His initially moved to the Community Stadium on a season-long deal, but Ipswich reserved the right to recall him.

Before Keane announced his intentions to recall the former Charlton man, Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd said: "I'm hoping to sign him [Lisbie] in January, get him on loan or whatever I can do to keep him, because he's a good player."

Lisbie joined Ipswich from Colchester in August 2008.
