Essex Senior League side Tiptree United say a merger with neighbours Maldon Town is a possibility.

The Jam Makers are currently ground-sharing with Maldon, who play in the Ryman Division One North.

Tiptree chairman Ed Garty told BBC Essex: "The two clubs would love to keep their own identity.

"But there's no money coming through the gates to finance these clubs. I think probably the ideal situation would be a merger."

He added: "That's not to say that it's going to happen, there's a lot of work to be done before that can be considered."
