Colchester defender Paul Reid admits he is relieved to be back in the side after recovering from a knee injury.
Reid started his first match in almost nine months in Tuesday's League One victory over Stockport.
He told BBC Essex: "We've got a lot of competition at centre-half, so we all know that we've got to be on our game to get ourselves in the team."
"I feel really confident in my knee, I'm getting no pain from it, I haven't let it (the injury) affect me."
Reid came into the side at the expense of Wolves loanee Danny Batth on Tuesday.
Magnus Okuonghae and Matt Heath are the other recognised central defenders at the club, while Pat Baldwin recently joined Bristol Rovers on loan.
