League One bottom club Tranmere picked up their first points in five outings with a deserved victory over Southend.
Captain Ian Goodison opened the scoring for the home side with a close-range header from a corner.
Shaleum Logan's goal-line clearance denied Sean Morrison an equaliser before home keeper Luke Daniels did well to block an Adam Barrett strike.
Terry Gornell wrapped up the three points for Rovers with an angled strike after the ball ran loose in the box.
Tranmere caretaker manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:
"It was by far the best performance all season.
"I'm a bit disappointed for the lads to be quite honest that we only won 2-0 but every player pulled their weight today which was superb."
Southend United manager, Steve Tilson told BBC Essex:
"Surprising, again we've brought in another player who doesn't know anyone and who turned up at half-four. It would be nice to be able to play the same side week in week out.
"I thought we had enough of the ball, it just didn't quite happen for us in the 18-yard box."
