Colchester striker Jamie Guy has expressed his interest in staying at Port Vale next season.
The 22-year-old has trained at Vale Park during the pre-season and wants to remain at the club on a longer basis.
Guy told BBC Radio Stoke: "I know [manager] Micky Adams from when he was at Colchester and as soon as I knew he was interested in me I wanted to come.
"Hopefully we can get something worked out and I can come in on loan and do a job for Port Vale."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson has refused the offer of a short-term deal at Vale Park.
The former Crewe stopper had been training with the League Two club for two weeks, but has decided against extending his stay.
