Davis enjoyed success in the non-league with Nantwich Town
Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Steve Davis says Wealdstone defender Carl Martin has been offered an extended trial after impressing in training.
The 21-year-old arrived at the club last week after being recommended to chief scout Neil Baker.
Davis told BBC Radio Stoke: "We have liked what we have seen so far and he has earned his extended stay with us."
Martin can play at right-back or in midfield and came through the scholarship ranks with Wealdstone.
The non-league club are encouraging the promising youngster to make the move into the Football League and Crewe will continue to assess him this week before deciding on whether to make him an offer or not.
Davis added: "The academy at Crewe is very important for the future of the club, but it is also important that we continue to get out there and find those players who may have come into the game late but still have the ability and temperament to become a professional.
"He is quick and strong and has good tricks. He has been really positive with his attitude and hasn't sat back and let anyone get the better of him.
"He has been aggressive and determined to show us what he can do."
