Colchester United's new signing Magnus Okuonghae has spoken of his joy at sealing a move to the League One club.
The 23-year-old defender has left Dagenham and Redbridge and signed a two-year contract at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
"I'd heard that they were going for it and they wanted to get promoted so I was flattered," he told BBC Essex.
"Having spoken to them it was a no-brainer really, and I knew it was a good choice."
However, the centre-back admitted that turning down a contract with the Daggers wasn't an easy decision.
"I gave it a lot of thought, but I just didn't feel the offer was right and I also felt I could make the step up and play higher.
"I didn't really want to tie myself down to something that I wasn't entirely happy with. I think as a footballer you need to be happy so I came to that decision to not sign the contract."
Okuonghae missed just one competitive game as Dagenham narrowly missed out on the League Two play-offs last season.
He's the third defender to join Colchester United this summer, with Alan Maybury and Lee Beevers signing for the club last month.
