Former West Ham star John Moncur says he will adopt a 'hands off' approach as he learns the ropes as Grays Athletic's new chairman.
Moncur has taken over the role with Mick Woodward moving to chief executive and Peter Shreeves coming in as director of football.
"I'm not stupid enough to come in and start telling people what to do," he told BBC Essex.
"I was keen to get back into football and this is perfect," he added.
Moncur retired from football in 2003 after nine years with West Ham and spells with Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth and Tottenham.

"Most of my knowledge is at the top level and this is all new to me so it's a real learning curve.
"Craig Edwards is the manager, he knows all about non-league football and Peter Shreeves has done it all as a coach," said Moncur.
