Maybury keen to extend U's stay

Colchester United full-back Alan Maybury has said would like to stay with the League One club.

The 30-year-old former Republic of Ireland international joined the U's as a free agent in December.

His contract comes to an end in June but, having spoken to manager Paul Lambert, he hopes it will be extended.

"I've had a couple of chats with the manager and he's intimated he wants to get something sorted out," Maybury told BBC Essex.

Maybury was without a club for the first four months of the season having left Leicester at the end of last term following a loan spell with Aberdeen.

"My family have moved with me down here so I'd like to think I'm going to be with Colchester for a while," added Maybury.

"With the players we've got here and the ones the manager wants to bring in I get the feeling this place is on the up and I want to be a part of that."
